The “Serpent" vibrator was created to change the public perception of the sex retail business, and Lindfors' concept for the new vibrator was to make it not look like a traditional dildo. Nevertheless, the challenge obviously was to create "Serpent" as an adult toy giving pleasure to the consumer – rather than simply becoming a "design object" for the book shelf. Thanks to the small independent vibrating motor Lindfors was able to work freely with the shape at both ends of his vibrator design, allowing for multiple uses by imaginative player(s). The "Serpent" was launched to the press and VIPs in Helsinki, Finland on November 2, 2004, at a party arranged to initiate debate on the topic of of sleazy, unacceptable sex toys.
