Photo: Mika Manninen (L.A.) and ESTO Photographics (Olympic Games) IN 1994, the Swiss company Swatch commissioned Lindfors to create a sculpture monument to commemorate the 1996 Summer Olympics. Lindfors’ tower was unveiled on the UCLA campus in Westwood, Los Angeles, in October 1995. In Summer 1996 it was relocated to the entrance of the Swatch pavilion at the Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Winged Victory is a major-scale outdoor sculpture that rotates around a central armature in response to the wind. The welded aluminum structure is surfaced with clear resined fiberglass. Two Swatch clocks, each approximately 1-meter in diameter, are positioned in the sculpture’s upper middle area, facing outward in opposite directions.
