Lagus, Marco Melander The commission by KIASMA to create three feeding chairs for the restaurant of the new museum is a perfect example of Lindfors Projects in the border-line between art and design: The feeding chairs would obviously have to be functional as furniture, yet also contain a strong sculptural statement as the one-of-a-kinds they are. Lindfors saw children being dressed as butterflies while dining with adults in the restaurant & café at the museum for contemporary art. KIASMA was created by New York Architect Steven Holl, and opened in May 1998 in the city centre of Helsinki, Finland. The “Star Trek I, II & III" children feeding chairs are welded stainless steel round stock and transparent fiberglass. Leather belts (should) keep the kids in their butterfly seats.
