Photo: Kyle Minor, Ramak Fazel, Heidi Culvert, Jenny Nyman In 1996 Urs Jacob asked Lindfors to create a façade that would communicate the atmosphere and activities of his hotel The Gershwin on 27th Street, lower mid-town, Manhattan. Lindfors created large-size “tongues" sticking out from the different street entrances, and additional "flames" attached to the exterior wall above. The first tongues and flames were unveiled in 1998, and later additional flames were added, climbing the walls of The Gershwin all the way to the roof top. The sculptures are welded stainless round srock and transparent fiberglass with lighting inside. In 2001 The New York Times declared Lindfors' permanent sculpture installation on the façade of the Gershwin "A new land mark in lower mid-town Manhattan"....
