I ran into a wood veneer that bends in three dimensions. Not a new invention, yet not commonly used in the furniture industry since it’s challenging to form press. Working on the concept for my lounge chair design, I decided to use this “3D”-veneer, never mind the challenges, since it would offer addtitonal options for the aesthetics.
The final seat design was too big to fit in the pressing machine, so I split it in half. I kept the “split” in the backrest open, so you can see through the chair. Haven’t seen that before. “U&I” swings and spins – returning to it’s position when you get up.
A footstool is a must. But why hasn’t anyone realised it has pretty much the same height as a small support table? Well, our footstool now has this new additional purpose: You can easily loose the cushion, and it turns into a tray for food and drink. 4U… Have a seat and a movie!
