I had a challenging task in front of me when creating a sculptural terrace for the resturant icon of Helsinki – restaurant Kosmos. Could I design the chair to have the looks and feel of my sculptures, still being comfortable to sit, and stackable as well...? Somehow I survived those challenges and everyone was pleased. We had 24 pcs. made – exclusively for the Kosmos terrace, of course.
Bad news: Doesn’t look comfortable at all. Good news: It is very comfortable.
World renowned art & design collector and artr dealer Bruno Bischofberger came to Helsinki a few years after the opening of my terrace in 2008, and we had lunch. He pursuaded the owner of the reaturant to purchase one Kosmos chair for his collections. 23 chairs left at the restaurant. At some point one Kosmos chair also accidentally made it home to my residence. (To stay... : ) 22 chairs left.
