A lamp where sculpture and industry meet in a strange way. “Scaraboy” is an homage to Ingo Maurer.

Light source: LED 20W / 24V – Touch Control Dimmer. “Scaraboy” comes with three diﬀerent cords: Choose between yellow, black, and white, and simply plug in your favorite colour yourself
Touch any of the four legs for turning the light On and Oﬀ. Keep your finger on the leg, and you’ve got the dimmer feature.
Materials: Powder coated and chromated steel, silicone rubber parts. Shade in injected acrylics
All visible parts are designed and manufactured exclusively for “Scaraboy”.
The first 100 pcs. sold are numbered and signed – hand carved by Stefan Lindfors into the steel base plate

Designer's Story

“ ... Ingo introduced my lamp at the Salone del Mobile design fair in Milan, in September 1988. We called the lamp “Scaragoo”. 20 years later we thought I should design a new, industrial version of the lamp.

I wanted two major diﬀerences in my new design: the new lamp would have a fixed position, and the entire body (=shade) should glow. I spent a week at Ingo Maurer GmbH in Münich working on my new lamp. We gave him the name “Scaraboy”.

But “Scaraboy” wasn’t ready for next year’s launch calendar, and Ingo was truly sad about the bad timing. He said: “Take him home and produce the lamp yourself..! ”

So – Scaraboy is now in production, and available on stefanlindfors.shop. And the rest is history.

BACKGROUND

In 1987 Ingo Maurer came to Helsinki to do a show of his lamp design, and by coincidence he spotted a student work of mine; an adjustable table lamp. He wanted to produce my lamp even though it certainly wasn’t designed for industrial production. A man of his word as he was, Ingo introduced my lamp at the Salone del Mobile design fair in Milan, in September 1988. We called the lamp “Scaragoo”. 20 years later we thought I should design a new, industrial version of “Scaragoo”. I wanted two major differences in my new design: the new lamp would have a fixed position, and the entire body (=shade) should glow.
I spent a week at Ingo Maurer GmbH in Münich working on my new lamp. We gave him the name “Scaraboy”. But “Scaraboy” wasn’t ready for next year’s launch calendar, and Ingo was truly sad about the bad timing. He said: “Take him home and produce the lamp yourself..!” So... “Scaraboy” found a good spot in my living room, and all these years this first prototype has given me light, as well as wonderful memories with my friend Ingo (1932-2019). When I made the decision to found a new product design brand, I found it natural to launch our webshop with the all new and finalized “Scaraboy” – as an homage to my very dear friend Ingo Maurer, RIP.
