Photo: Henkka Niemistö (2009), Liisa Takala (2001) The first time Lindfors designed the entrance (including the restrooms) for restaurant “Kosmos" was in 1993. He had no intention of changing the style and atmosphere of his long time "extended living room" at the time, but rather made a few functional changes to those spaces. Later on Ms. Katri Hepolampi, owner of "Kosmos", decided to let the entrance spaces of her classic soon to turn 80–years restaurant live on as a contemporary “laboratory". The main dining hall would definitely remain in its traditional style. On his second mission to work on "the Kosmos entrance" in 2001 Lindfors finally decided to give it his own mark and created a dolphin to be hung in the ceiling. Curtains and fabrics for the furniture were accordingly designed by Lindfors, and the space soon got the nick name "The Dolphin Room". The restrooms - including custom made wall tiles - designed by Lindfors in 1993 - remained. Ms. Aino Tirkkonen was Lindfors' Interior Architect partner in the Dolphin Room project. The dolphin sculpture is chromed and welded steel, length: 4 meters (13 feet), and Lindfors' partner in construction was Mr. Harri Ojala. Restaurant Kosmos is located in the absolute centre of Helsinki on Kalevankatu 3. On the 6th of August 2024 Kosmos turned 100 years, still within the same family....
