There are many great swinging lounge chairs already. Charles Eames, and Yrjö
Kukkapuro’s “Karuselli”, only to mention two. I ran into a wood veneer that shapes in all
dimensions, called “3D” veneer, and was amazed. I.e.: You can form press a wood
laminate in a “cup” form, which is impossible in traditional wood form pressing.
When I had designed the seat for my lounge chair, it was too big to fit in the machine. I
decided to split it in half, and we got two equal “mirror” parts, each of which would fit in
the machine. Yes! I kept the “split” in the backrest open, so you can see through the chair. Haven’t seen that ever before. “U&I” swings and spins... returning to it’s position when you get up. Later I might add a head rest as an “accessory”; easy to attach to the back rest crotch...
My personal assistant requested, sorry demanded, me to design a footstool as well.
Personally not my thing, and I wanted some additional purpose to this piece of furniture: The cushion feels nice under your feet (or under your ass if you sit on it), and when you take the cushion off, it becomes a serving tray beside you. “4U”. Red wine or a beer when watching a TV series. I recommend “Slow Horses”.
