KOSMOS – Table

I had a challenging task in front of me when creating a sculptural terrace for the restaurant icon of Helsinki – restaurant Kosmos. Could I design the chair to have the looks and feel of my sculptures, still being comfortable to sit, and stackable as well...? Somehow I survived those challenges and everyone was pleased. We had 24 pcs. made – exclusively for the Kosmos terrace, of course.
Bad news: Doesn’t look comfortable at all. Good news: It is very comfortable.
World renowned art & design collector and art dealer Bruno Bischofberger came to Helsinki a few years after the opening of my terrace in 2008, and we had lunch. He pursuaded the restaurant to let him purchase one Kosmos chair for his collections. 23 chairs left at the restaurant. At some point one chair also accidentally made it home to my residence – 22 chairs left…
We now manufacture and distribute the Kosmos chair – indoor, out door... So, having served many happy guests, my original Kosmos chair can now finally go back to the restaurant it originally came from – we’ve got plenty from now on. Oh yes, you need a table to go with. I’m amazed by the material we found for the top. Both beautiful and practical. Dinners, meetings, and drinks on the terrace – three sizes for now: “Square”, “Standard”, and “Master”.
